Oak Park Renovation, Vancouver BC
Following a Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation decision to close an old outdoor swimming pool adjacent to Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre and replace it with a sports court, PD group was appointed to prepare a renovation plan for the entire area of adjoining Oak Park. This included consulting the local community on the preferred direction for park improvement. The majority of available funding was allocated to removal of the pool and installation of a sport court on the site of the pool. However, the budget did allow for the addition of other new features including a perimeter loop path with new park entry points, a mini-plaza as a park gathering space and new planting enhancements throughout the park.
